MI10 Piezo Duo Transducer

MI25 MiniPirani Transducer

MI71 Cold Cathode

MI72 Cold Cathode Duo

MI79 Full Range Transducer

MultiGauge Controller

The MultiGauge controller will operate as many as six sensors simultaneously and every controller is configured to the user’s specifications regarding sensors and communication choice. The controller is configured with a universal power supply with a range from 100 – 240 VAC and 50 – 60 Hz.

Vacuum flexible hose is the best solution for misaligned vacuumports or for those applications where straight plumbing is simply not an option. These products are also excellent vibration dampeners. Flexible vacuum hose is available in stainless steel or wire-reinforced PVC.

PVC vacuum fittings are an excellent money saving option for rough vacuum plumbing and exhaust lines. One advantage provided by PVC fittings is easy on site customization of the fittings and tubing that you purchase. Simply cut to size and assemble your system with the fittings, primer and cement. Adapter fittings to connect your PVC tubing to ISO-QF flanges and fittings are available as standard product.

Traps vs Filters

In a high vacuum setting, traps and filters may be installed on a vacuum foreline, but each has a different function:

Trap: A trap is a device that is designed to capture vapors and gases.

Filter: A filter is a device that is designed to capture or reduce particulates, dust, smoke, and aerosols. A common filter function, for example, is to capture the oil mist (an aerosol) that is discharged from the outlet of an oil-sealed rotary vane mechanical pump.

Selection Criteria

When selecting a trap or a filter, there are three selection criteria: body style, port terminations, and media.

Body style: A trap or filter’s body style incorporates the geometry of the plumbing (i.e., coaxial, in-line, or right angle), body volume, and, in a few instances, the choice between a sealed and a rechargeable housing. The choice between a coaxial or an in-line body style is based on the geometry of your foreline and your system’s available footprint. The decision on body volume is determined from your anticipated gas loads. Typically, larger gas loads require larger body volumes. Larger body volumes provide a higher conductance and a lower frequency of media change-outs. The choice between a sealed and a rechargeable trap is based on system runtime (continuous vs. intermittent) and cost. Sealed traps are discarded after the media has been consumed and are ideal for light gas loads or intermittent use. With rechargeable traps, the housing is reused and only the media is replaced. Because a clamp, gasket, and two additional vacuum flanges are required to gain access to the media, rechargeable traps typically cost more than sealed traps. Rechargeable traps are ideal for high gas loads and continuous use.

Port terminations: Port selection is based on ultimate base pressure. Systems with a base pressure of 10-3 Torr or higher can employ tube end terminations. Systems with base pressures between 10-3 Torr and 10-8 Torr can employ elastomeric seals and terminations (ISO-QF and ISO-LF). Systems with base pressures less than 10-8 Torr require metal seals (CF, ULRIC®).

Media: Media selection is entirely dependent on the trap or filter’s intended function. The following six categories summarize the universe of trap and filter applications:

Prevention of pump lubricant backstreaming;

Capturing process gases;

Capturing moisture and/or process condensibles;

Capturing process particulates;

Capturing mechanical pump discharge; and

Reduction of system base pressure via cryopumping.

Each of these applications and their respective impact on trap, filter, and media selection is further explained in the introductory sections on pages 6, 7 & 22. Please contact an A&N factory engineer or account representative with any questions regarding media selection.

A&N provides a wide variety of borosilicate glass and fused quartz vacuum observation viewports (windows). You will find an option for vacuum chambers operating high and ultra-high levels of vacuum.

Weldable viewports provide a simple method of adding an observation window to coating systems and other applications that deposit materials onto the inner surfaces of the chamber. The window material (borosilicate glass or quartz) in these viewports is replaceable. The window material is captured between a pair of sealing fluoroelastomer rings. The assembly is compressed together by the aluminum retaining flange. Note that because this is a fluoroelastomer sealed assembly the ultimate pressure rating for this viewport is limited to high vacuum.

Add-a-doors are an excellent way to provide physical access to the interior of your vacuum system. Add-a-doors bolt onto an existing standard flange port on your chamber and can function as a viewing window as well as access point for your system. The body of an add-a-door is a CF flange generally capable of UHV pressures, but the door is sealed with a fluoroelastomer O-ring. Thus the ultimate vacuum pressure rating for this component is limited to high vacuum. NOTE: A&N’s viewport add-a-doors have been designed to allow for the replacement of the windows.

Glass to metal adapters allow vacuum users to transition from glass to metal components within their vacuum system. An excellent solution is to pair a glass to metal adapter with a quick disconnect fitting. See Section 8 for more quick disconnect information.

Up-to-Air valves are a useful accessory. They are used to vent atmosphere or gas into a system. These valves are available with a wide variety of connection flanges and fittings to facilitate installation.

General vacuum accessories are the little things that you don’t miss…until you need one. Vacuum grease, anti-seize, flange caps to protect unused vacuum products and 12-point wrenches.

A&N weldable components provide an extensive array of options for the assembly of your pumping lines, exhaust lines or custom vacuum components. A&N’s weldable component product line includes tubing, conical reducers, elbows, tees, crosses, end caps and ball socket fittings. These components come in multiple sizes, lengths and designs to offer you the greatest flexibility in your system design while offering you the cost benefit of specifying standard product.

Tubing sizes are specified by their outer diameter measured in inches. The inner diameter is calculated by taking the outer diameter and subtracting 2 times the wall thickness. This measurement is approximate as tubing has no official specifications regarding tolerances for concentricity, ovality or parallelism.

All A&N vacuum components are shipped clean and packaged to arrive ready for high vacuum service.
